We are looking for an experienced Product Owner / Business Analyst with at least 5 years of professional experience to join a major Core Banking transformation programme within the financial services sector.

The role combines Product Ownership, Business Analysis, mortgage domain knowledge and data analysis, working closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, data specialists and third-party technology providers.

The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, prioritising and delivering capabilities supporting mortgage products and servicing processes, translating complex business needs into clear requirements and actionable development backlogs.

Strong knowledge of mortgages and Core Banking platforms is essential. Experience with Thought Machine Vault or another modern cloud-native Core Banking platform would be highly desirable.

The position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to the United Kingdom, and is initially expected to last approximately 6 months.

A B2/C1 level of English is required.

Main Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Backlog Management

  • Own and maintain the product backlog for one or more Core Banking workstreams.
  • Translate programme objectives and business priorities into a clear product roadmap and delivery backlog.
  • Define and prioritise epics, features and user stories.
  • Prioritise requirements based on business value, customer impact, regulatory requirements, technical dependencies and delivery risk.
  • Work with stakeholders to agree priorities and resolve competing requirements.
  • Ensure engineering teams have a well-defined and appropriately prioritised pipeline of work.
  • Support sprint planning, backlog refinement, release planning and wider programme-planning activities.
  • Monitor delivery progress and adjust priorities where required.
  • Make prioritisation decisions based on evidence, risk and business value.

Business Analysis & Requirements Definition

  • Engage with business stakeholders and subject-matter experts to understand mortgage products, operational processes and business needs.
  • Analyse existing processes, systems, customer journeys and data flows.
  • Identify gaps, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.
  • Define clear functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Produce detailed epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows and business rules.
  • Ensure requirements are detailed, testable and clearly understood by engineering, QA and business teams.
  • Facilitate workshops, requirements-gathering sessions and solution-design discussions.
  • Maintain requirements traceability from the original business need through development, testing and implementation.
  • Resolve requirements-related questions throughout the delivery lifecycle.

  • Apply strong knowledge of mortgage products and mortgage-servicing processes to Core Banking solutions.
