Job Description
As a DevOps Specialist, you will lead and support the migration of workloads currently deployed on Amazon ECS running on EC2 into a new Virtual Data Center (VDC) environment.
You will work closely with cloud engineers, developers, database administrators, and infrastructure teams to adapt application configurations, update database connectivity, validate migrated data, and ensure business continuity throughout the migration process.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, containerized applications, automation, and workload migrations, along with a strong understanding of data processing and deployment best practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute the migration of workloads from AWS ECS/EC2 environments to a Virtual Data Center (VDC).
- Adapt application configurations and database connections to the target infrastructure.
- Validate migrated processes and ensure generated data remains accurate, complete, and consistent.
- Manage and optimize container deployments running on Amazon ECS with EC2 launch type.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts to automate migration tasks, operational processes, and validation activities.
- Support data flow orchestration and ensure reliable execution of data processing pipelines.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and database teams throughout the migration lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot migration issues and implement effective resolution strategies.
- Ensure cloud infrastructure follows security, performance, and operational best practices.
- Document migration procedures, architecture changes, and operational guidelines.
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or AWS Infrastructure roles.
- Proven experience migrating workloads between AWS accounts and into Virtual Data Center (VDC) environments.
- Strong knowledge of Amazon ECS on EC2, including container deployment and management.
- Experience working with Amazon EC2 and core AWS infrastructure services.
- Proficiency in Python for automation and operational scripting.
- Experience with data flow orchestration and processing pipelines.
- Knowledge of cloud networking, security, and infrastructure best practices.
- Experience with Git and modern software deployment workflows.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in Agile and cross-functional teams.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or similar).
- Knowledge of Docker and container ecosystem best practices.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch.
- Previous experience in banking, financial services, or other highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes or container orchestration platforms beyond ECS.
